The Chargers hosted the CCAA’s inaugural National Golf Championships in 2000, and went on to best Canada’s finest to claim the first-ever CCAA Men’s Golf National title. In September 2000, the Applied Communication program’s CKMO-FM changed over to AM 900, trading places with Victoria’s CJVI station, as part of a partnership deal with Rogers Media Broadcasting that included a start-up grant, scholarships, operating funds for 10 years and the use of an AM transmitter for 10 years. Camosun Foundation launches Young Building Restoration fundraising campaign
In the late 90s, Camosun launched the Young Building Restoration Project as an $8.3 million joint initiative between the college, the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology and the Camosun College Foundation. Bukwila, set at the steps of Lansdowne campus’ Wilna Thomas Cultural Centre, has been welcoming students to campus for the past 23 years. Camosun’s first totem pole was carved in 1995 by renowned Indigenous carver and artist Richard Hunt. It was commissioned by the Investors Group, donated to Camosun and later installed at the Interurban campus. Richard Hunt dedicated the 12-foot totem to his mother, Helen Hunt.
