In 1971, the B.C. Vocational School (located on Interurban Road) merged with the Lansdowne campus to become Camosun College, offering trades and technical programs in professional cook training, electrical, plumbing, welding and carpentry trades, automotive repair and map drafting.

In 1971, the Lansdowne campus offered academic and career programs in business administration, secretarial sciences, medical lab technology, Native and commercial art, sciences, arts and humanities.

Interurban campus: the Drysdale and White Buildings

John Drysdale Building (formerly known as A Block) at Interurban was named after John Drysdale a 22-year administrator and leader in vocational education in BC.  He was the Director of Trades Training at Camosun from 1971 to 1981. Institute of Adult Studies – the forerunner to Camosun College

The Institute of Adult Studies (IAS) was the forerunner to Camosun College. Established by the School Board of Greater Victoria in 1966, the IAS  was located primarily in the Young and Ewing buildings of what is now the Lansdowne Campus of Camosun. The Paul Building opens at Lansdowne

It’s fitting that today’s President’s Office is located in the Paul Building. Dr. Edward B. Paul led Victoria High from 1892 to 1908, was a City Superintendent of Schools for Victoria and a Principal of Victoria College.
