On August 15, Camosun welcomed Dr. Elizabeth Ashton as the college’s fourth president.
Over three consecutive terms, Dr. Liz Ashton saw the transition of Camosun moving from a four-campus college (closing Carey Road and Junction campuses) to a comprehensive two-campus college focusing on delivering high quality, relevant programming at the Lansdowne and Interurban campuses.
A former Olympic equestrian athlete, Liz Ashton facilitated and oversaw the development of the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) at Interurban campus. The Institute was a Canadian first – an education based community-centred organization that uniquely integrated international-level sport and wellness expertise, post-secondary educational programming and services, sport science and technology innovation, high performance sport services and sport medicine – all under one roof.
Dr. Liz Ashton served as president for 14 years, retiring from the college in September 2009.
